This workshop on piano technique will now take place online.
Morning session 10.30-13.00
Afternoon session 14.00 -16.30
The workshop is open to all pianists: professional performers and teachers, amateurs, and students who are interested in learning more about Penelope’s approach to piano playing and teaching, and in investigating and discussing new methods of technique.
Aspects of technique that will be covered include warming up, sitting posture, controlled use of arm weight, playing with smaller-than-average hands, rotation technique and playing at speed. There will also be time for individual questions on related topics. The workshop will be recorded, so if joining from a different time zone, you will be able to watch it later.
I will contact everyone nearer the time to explain how to access the team.
Feedback from previous workshops on technique.
In future I would opt for Zoom rather than face to face as it is so much more convenient and I don’t think the content of the workshop is compromised by this online format. – Clare
A real bonus for me was being able to try things out alongside other participants while on mute. I found I grasped things quicker and will remember them better for having tried them out in the moment. -Bethan
Thank you for a wonderfully informative and practical session today. I’m really looking forward to exploring and developing the techniques in my own playing and with my students. Your explanations, demonstrations, descriptions and analogies were incredibly helpful. -Pauline
I had a wonderful day yesterday. I liked the clear and seemingly easy way she explains complex matters. I particularly liked the way she gives feedback and is encouraging to the participants. -Paul
